Leadership is the capacity of an individual or a group to guide and influence followers or members of an organization, society or team. It is often associated with a person’s title, seniority or ranking in a hierarchy, but it is a skill that anyone can develop or acquire, even those without formal leadership positions. With time and practice, leadership skills can be enhanced.

Leaders are necessary in various aspects of society, such as business, politics, religion, and social and community-based organizations. They are individuals who make sound and sometimes difficult decisions, articulate a clear vision, establish achievable goals, and provide followers with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve those goals.

An effective leader possesses self-confidence, strong communication and management skills, creative and innovative thinking, perseverance, willingness to take risks, openness to change, levelheadedness, and reactiveness in times of crisis.
